Arvin Amatorio was born in the Philippines, the son of two public school teachers. He went to college in Manila and obtained degrees in Economics and Law. She met his future wife, Ilya Evangelista-Amatorio, a registered nurse, and they moved to the United States in 2002. They are blessed with two sons, 12-year-old Lance and 3-year-old Andrew.
Since 2006, Arvin has proudly practiced immigration law, helping other hard-working families live the American Dream. His office is located right on Washington Avenue, which allows him to meet with residents and local business owners every day.
Being elected to the Council and providing services to his neighbors has been one of the highest honors and privileges of his life. As a proud American citizen, he considers public service a sacred obligation.
Arvin is the Chairman of the Finance Committee, where, for the past two years he has delivered 0% municipal tax increase, amidst the rising cost of government in the state and in the country. He is proud to also serve on the Police and DPW committees. As Councilman, he has spear-headed shared services agreements which have proven to save the Borough money. He is a strong advocate of the veterans and initiated an ordinance that will provide property tax relief for those determined to be "totally disabled veterans".
As a Councilman, he has organized annual free outreach events, health fairs and immigration seminars for the community. Now he’s running for Mayor to take Bergenfield’s public services to the next level. He is running with Ora Kornbluth and Buddy Deauna to make sure Bergenfield remains a great environment to live and that the Bergenfield municipal employees are able to understand and better serve the needs of our diverse population.
